Private viewing of emerging Dubai-based Lebanese artist (and goddess) Nadine Kanso tonight 7.30pm at B21 in Al Quoz for the DXB art crowd.
had a sneaky preview of the Martin Parr exhibit at the third line today. very funny and very clever. must be dubai's most perfectly conceived art show yet. i remember seeing martin snapping away at a few parties in dubai last year (art dubai, the world cup / richest horse race) and it was nice to see the stunning results. i was laughing out loud walking around the gallery. although treatments on dubai's superficiality have been done to death (and i always argue against that one-dimensional, superficial if you will, interpretation), these photos candidly capture an element of truth about dubai society. opens tomorrow if you're in the dxb.
legend. made no money. changed the fashion game (a few times). made deadly serious clothes (over and over). nazi serious. kept awesome company (gluckman, holzer, mapplethorpe, weber, bourgeois. of his contemporaries, only sander, slimane and margiela come close.
